Are you loving the rain? We are!

Spring is always great, moving away from the freezing overnight temperatures and basking in the sun, but a bit of rain to help give it a kick start is always a good thing.

We’ve had small amounts of overnight rain in the past few weeks that the garden was thirsting for – yay! The Potatoes are taking off (no, not ready yet by a long shot, but we are mounding them), and this week we are planting out more pumpkin plus the tomatoes and basil!

The garlic is busy throwing up scapes, which we harvest for two reasons:

  1. they are really yummy
  2. it helps the garlic put its’ energy into bulb development

So come on down to the markets and pick up a bunch of scapes for a very seasonal flavour sensation.

More things from the garden this week – everything certified organic:

  • Broadbeans
  • Turnips
  • Kale
  • Silverbeet
  • Salad Mix
  • Stir-fry greens
  • Leeks
  • Chicken and Duck Eggs

Plus we’ve made up a new batch of Vegetable Stock plus more Kombucha which is in high demand.

On the meat front this week we’ll have fresh organic pork with a focus on sausages and mince, plus a huge range of fresh organic beef cuts – oh and of course fresh Hillside Pastured Chicken.
