A bit of cooler weather has settled things down in the garden, although the grasshoppers are still trying to have a feast.
The garden is abundant, so apart from fresh lamb and chicken this week (as well as the last of the been in the freezer), we’ll have:

It’s official, the zucchinis are in fine form, the tomatoes are starting to boom and the cucumbers just starting to fruit.
We had a lovely 25mm of rain over the weekend – whew! What a blessing – better than none and better than 75mm our friends had and lost fences!

Well, the great garlic olympics in Bungendore (read the garlic entries at the Bungendore Show) are over for another year.
Congratulations to Simone Dilkara who took out first and second place (who does that?) And our own Penny Kothe took out third.
We agreed that actually it was a credit to the gorgeous compost from Lantasia Compost, our neighbours at Caroola Farm.

We had a slight reprieve from the heat yesterday, thankfully, but it’s been a big week of stress – on us, but more so on the plants.
39 degrees in the shade means it can be over 50 degrees in the garden, and with water in short supply the only answer is hand watering the plants that need it most – which of course is the seedlings…
Thankfully the zucchinis decided to keep on keeping strong, and the tomatoes also love the heat, so we will have limited supply of both of these at the markets this week.
