In the community
We participated in the Canberra City Farm Food Box Trial on Sunday, a fantastic experience, lots of energy and heaps of fun! Want to get involved, check out Canberra City Farm.
Fair Food Dinner – Saturday 15 October, Bungendore Bowling Club
Join us for this fantastic regional food event to celebrate Fair Food Week in Bungendore.
Southern Harvest has been working hard to grow fresh food producers across the region through education, community building, and our local farmers market in Bungendore.
What better way than to join all the dots and present a Fair Food Week Regional Food Dinner by joining with the Bungendore Bowling Club community.
Seasonal, local and chemical free produce will be showcased on the menu from a wide range of producers across the area.
We’ll be celebrating the local and regional produce we have available from the Southern Harvest region, cooking straight from the garden with Ruth Gaha-Morris of Scrumpers Garden.
Wine, cider and beer, along with non-alcoholic beverages will also be available on the evening.
Operations – Sunday 9 October
Marketing – Sunday 23 October
Finances – Sunday 13 November

On the Farm
We had a big week at the markets last week – Southern Harvest Farmers Market in Bungendore, Southside Farmers Market at the new Canberra College Location, Canberra City Farm Food Box Pilot and then headed down to SAGE Farmers Market in Moruya.
In amongst all of that we’ve had even more rain – almost 40mm, so things are very wet, we are still trying to build more beds to plant out the seedlings in the polytunnel, but it is challenging in the wet.
We have improvement in our access to the Market Garden with the installation of a new pedestian gate – yay, no more climbing the fence 😉
We received more day old Sommerlad Chickens, plus 4 new piglets from Allsun Farm at Gundaroo…
We are looking forward to Spring and what it will mean for the gardens, but also the chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep and cattle…
