It’s been a week of weeding, planting and coping with the heat, plus school holidays of course!
We have liberated the onions from the weeds, harvested our Dunganski garlic and hung it to cure, and now it’s time to get on to weeding the tomatoes (not yet ripe 🙁
We’ll be at Queanbeyan Farmers Market on Thursday with Fresh Organic Beef, a load of spring onions, Long Tropea Red and fresh brown onions, plus salad and stir-fry greens, zucchini and squash.

The farmers market is a great place to pick up quality local produce for your festive meals including meats, chutneys and other accompaniments, bread, vegetables and more. It’s also a great place to start looking for those local hamper items such as dried native herbs, a range of sauces and jams, herbal teas, cordials and garlic braids of course!

The fourteenth Australasian Permaculture Convergence will be held in Canberra from 15-19 April 2018. The four day convergence kicks off with the ACT Permaculture Festival on Sunday 15 April 2018, at Canberra City Farm and then 4 days of connecting and learning at The Greenhills Centre in Cotter. Canberra City Farm Education Centre Open Day and Launch.
Local community group Canberra City Farm is officially launching their education centre in Fyshwick as part of their Open Day being held on Sunday 19 November 2017.
Canberra City Farm signed a 10-year licence agreement with the ACT Government in October 2015, to establish a community-run Education Centre at a site on Dairy Road in Fyshwick.

Spring is always great, moving away from the freezing overnight temperatures and basking in the sun, but a bit of rain to help give it a kick start is always a good thing.
We’ve had small amounts of overnight rain in the past few weeks that the garden was thirsting for – yay! The Potatoes are taking off (no, not ready yet by a long shot, but we are mounding them), and this week we are planting out more pumpkin plus the tomatoes and basil!
