On the Farm

Sun, wind, rain, but enough sun to get the grasses growing and bring the bees out in full force – yay! Saying that, we bogged the mower trying to keep the market garden clear.

We’ve had school visits this week to learn about sustainable agriculture, have managed to get a load of Spring veggies in the ground including broadbeans, pumpkins, lettuce, kale and beetroot, and we have a load more busy germinating in the polytunnel.

We released the garlic, well, we took the row covers off anyway, in order to give them room to make their final burst before ‘bulbing’ up and sending scapes high into the air.

The Sheep have been lambing over the last few weeks, so nice to see these gorgeous young creatures fill the paddock, the true Spring Lamb (but not ready to eat just yet). The cattle have suffered after the dry Autumn with little winter growth, but now that Spring has begun they will start to fatten up and we hope to be processing beef soon. That all said, we are still working on our Meat Buyers Group, just awaiting some final website tweaks and we’ll be in action with availability in Bungendore, South Canberra, North Canberra and Moruya. Register here to stay informed.

Spring looks set to be amazing, lets just hope we can keep on top of the growth 🙂
