We are not doing our traditional, full scale Open Day, but we are offering Farm Tours, picnic space and a Long Table Lunch.
Caroola Farm is a family-owned, permaculture-based, beyond organic, local-market farm and informational outreach in the NSW Southern Tablelands. Established in 2012 with the intention to be a permaculture demonstration farm and working, profitable farm to service the local community. It is operated by Penny Kothe and Paul McKinnon.

Farm tours Sunday 11am (in case it is hot) – bookings essential here
March 6 – Sugar and vinegar preservation of fruits and vegetables (eg: jam, jelly, paste, cordial, chutney, relish, sauce)
April 3 – Fermentation of vegetables and fruits (eg: sauerkraut, kimchi, miso, tempeh, ketchup, Indian chutney)

We’ll be joining in at the Bungendore Show this Sunday 31 Jan – a great day out for everyone. So, that means we will have the farm shop open on Saturday instead of Sunday if you were going to drop by.
We have loads of premium beef mince plus whole chickens and a stack of veggies including:

Welcome the rain!
Our on-farm shop is open this weekend 3-7pm on Friday and 11-4 on Sunday. Plus, we’ll be at Braidwood Farmers Market and Southside CIT Woden Farmers Markets.
Chicken, duck, garlic and loads more. Drop in to the farm shop to say hi, for a refreshing drink on the way to the coast – or, if it stays cool, a coffee or te.
We’ll be harvesting the following fruit and veggies, but get in quick as they sell out fast:

- Stir-fry Mix
- New potatoes
- Plus we’ll have Caroola Produce Preserves

Apart from the amazing rain falling at the moment…
This week on the farm we are harvesting:
Lovely lettuces, radishes, almost the end of the kale, broad beans, brocollini, garlic (young, as it is a little too wet to harvest the whole lot for drying), garlic scapes (yum!), limited beetroots and a few turnips.

In this episode we talk to a truly inspirational woman who shares her story about what it means to roll with the punches and build a thriving farm business from nothing.
Penny Kothe from Caroola Farm on the NSW Southern Tablelands was born on the western side of the Snowy Mountains. She finished off her schooling in Sydney before working in corporate roles both in Sydney and in Singapore. But the land kept calling and she returned to run a conventional beef farm in 2007.
