Officially the change of season, which can make things scarce in the garden, especially since we’ve only had about a month on Autumn. Finally, 3mm of rain – which does not go far, but better than nil.

It’s official, the zucchinis are in fine form, the tomatoes are starting to boom and the cucumbers just starting to fruit.
We had a lovely 25mm of rain over the weekend – whew! What a blessing – better than none and better than 75mm our friends had and lost fences!

It’s that time of year when ‘private’ processing through the abattoirs has stopped, and when it starts again it’s a mad scramble to book into the butcher for cut ups.
The good news is we have LOADS of Hillside Pastured Chicken in the freezer – time for a roast – eat it hot or cold.
We do have lots of beef sausages and mince (great for making your own burgers or of course a sausage sizzle).
We have limited lamb left (sorry, it just goes really quickly) and limited pork until we can get to the abattoir again.

This weekend we’ll be at the Southern Harvest Farmers Market in Bungendore 9am – 12noon, plus Southside Farmers Market at Canberra College.
Come and stock up on Yummy pastured chicken and Georgeous grass-fed beef – loads of cuts perfect for BBQ (it will be hot this weekend), stir-fry and roasting.

Our heritage chicken is the most flavoursome and natural chicken you will find.
Pasture raised from heritage stock provided by the Sommerlad family in the New England Tablelands, these birds are more naturally adapted to outside foraging and temperatures that the traditional white meat bird.
Our heritage chickens take twice as long to grow as the conventional supermarket chickens, and the live active, healthy and happy lives.
